Jelly and gummy products are today presented predominantly in pillow bags and zippered doypack packaging. Pillow bags are preferred for single-serve consumption, while doypack packaging is favored for larger weights due to its reclosable structure. Vibrant colors and premium packaging designs are an important part of this product group.
Pillow bags are generally produced in the range of 70–80 grams, and zippered doypack packaging in the range of 150–200 grams. A few standardized dimensions are widely used in each packaging type. PET/PE laminated packaging materials are the most common choice for both pillow bag and doypack applications in jelly products.
Jelly products cannot be conveyed like standard products due to their delicate nature. In order to preserve their soft structure and ensure high weighing accuracy, special feeding systems and multi-head weighers with lower-friction surfaces are used.
Thanks to the PET/PE packaging structure, conveyor-type metal detectors can be easily used. At the same time, since dosing is carried out via multi-head weighers, a throat-type metal detector can also be used between the weigher and the packaging. Depending on the needs of the production line, checkweigher and X-Ray systems can be integrated to perform both weight and foreign matter inspections.
